Happy Birthday Abby!

Today is your third birthday, and you are so happy to tell everyone you are three while holding up three cute little fingers.

In some ways, its hard to believe you’ve only been in our life for three years. What did your father and I ever do without you? How did we think our life was complete back then? We truly did not know the full meaning of happiness until you came into our lives.

In other ways, the time has just flown by. How can my baby girl be three already… out of diapers and speaking in full sentences with words like “actually” and “difficult”?

Today around 2:30pm (which is around the time you were born) I thought back to that day in the hospital and when we got our first look at you. I called your dad at work to remind him, and I started crying right there on the phone thinking about it.

I know the years are going to continue to fly by, so your dad and I need to stop and smell the roses and truly enjoy this fun, adorable time in your life. I think we’re doing a pretty good job of appreciating all the moments, but its always good to remind ourselves and reflect. The first three years of your life have been wonderful. Here’s wishing for a lifetime of more happy moments. And Abby -- even though you’re no longer a baby girl, you will always be my Baby Girl. I love you.

Love, Mama

From the Mouth of Babes

Here is just a sampling of some of the silly things Abby has said lately:

“Wow, he has lots and lots of stamps.”

- pointing to a man covered in tattoos at her gymnastics class (where she gets a stamp on her hand at the end of class)

“Mommy, is that the mean old witch?”
- pointing at and within earshot of Dr. Kartheiser at Raleigh Pediatrics. (Dr. K has straight, shoulder length dark hair streaked with grey)

Me - “Abby, it’s raining outside so we can’t go the playground. Do you want to go to the mall?”
Her – “YES! But can you bring money this time?”
- we hadn’t been to the mall in ages, but the last time we went she kept asking for candy from the machines, to which I replied “Sorry, I don’t have any money"
